@ 4AM my wife and I were woken up by lightning and heavy rain. Some of the lightning seemed right outside of the window. Needless to say after an hour or so of the Thunderstom keeping us awake, I was really tired when the alarm went off at 6:30. I called the golf course and they said it was soaked and play at your own risk since there were still storms in the area. I went ahead and cancelled the Tee Time so Dallas and I will have to re-schedule for another time. Guess what?? It didn’t rain anymore…grrrrrrrrrrrrr
PS- Anyone else think all the storms this year is wacky?

Not a question, as in Marvin Gaye’s great song but more of what has been happening in my world lately.
My dad gave us a scare. He got dehydrated and had to be taken to the ER. The radiation he had made it very painful for him to swallow so he wasn’t always taking his meds. The doctors were able to insert a pic line so they could hydrate him as well as a feeding tube so he could get some nourishment. The anti-biotics they have him on as well as getting food have started having positive effects. He has started participating in his PT and is also coming around mentally. Thank you all who have been praying for him. It is working and he has a long way to go in his recovery so please keep him before the Lord.
I have been pretty busy myself. I started teaching myself the Perl programming language and I think I overloaded my brain. I am almost certain there was smoke coming from my ears. I set up an account of Facebook and have been able to get in touch with some old friends. Tomorrow I am taking my Father-in-law golfing because I will be down helping out with my Dad next weekend when his birthday rolls around. I have also been thinking a lot about what Cornerstone needs to do to start growing more in worship. I think we are being called to step out of our comfort zones and see where God leads us.
PS- I got the book for my next class, it is CSI135. UNIX/Linux with some scripting thrown in. The book is “A Practical guide to Ubuntu Linux” I really would have thought that they would have used more of a Server Class OS like RHEL/CentOS, SLES, Open Solaris or maybe even BSD. The class will be pretty easy except for the scripting. Everything else in the book I do on a daily basis.
PPS- I have to go rest up for golf tomorrow. I will post again soon.

Friday the 4th of July, I went golfing with my father-in-law and Alistair the youth intern at our church. It was an extremely hot day and we got held up about an hour or so so it took us a little over 5 hours for 18 holes. LeAnn and my mother-in-law picked us up and we went and got a cold drink and an ice cream cone. We decided to go to the grocery and pick up something for dinner before heading out for the fireworks. My father-in-law wanted to go home and shower but I suggested that we just stop since it was on the way. Walking back out to the car, I looked across the parking lot and who do I see but my oldest brother. I have seen him once in the last 7 years and here he was vacationing the same place we were. It was cool to be able to introduce him to my in-laws and Alistair. The coolest part though was I think that God was showing me just how big He is and also that all things are in His control. There are over 6 Billion people in the world. There are over 300 Million people in the United States of America. There are over 9 Million people in North Carolina. Guess whose car we were parked next to in the parking lot? That is right, my brother…. Anyone good at making odd’s or statistics?

The latest on dad is that he has to have another operation. Apparently there are residual tendrils from his brain tumor that need to be removed. They don’t have a date yet but but it should be soon. They expressed there thanks for all of the prayers and still need them. I will update more when I get a chance. We are heading out to a b-day party for my mother-in-law.

The US Open is over and Tiger Woods has once again won another tournament. This is the first time I really payed attention to the whole event. I usually just watch a few holes but this one was really nail biting. Tiger was injured and played through some pretty intense pain. He tied for first place during the final on the last shot of Hole 18 and sent the tournament to Monday. Today both Tiger and Rocco traded the lead and ended up tied at the end of 18 sending it to sudden death. Tiger wrapped it up on the first hole of sudden death. CONGRATULATIONS TIGER!!

So I was listening to the radio today and it was mentioned that Senator Obama if elected President would make it his first priority to pass the “Freedom of Choice Act”. If you are not familiar with the act, you should read up on it. To be fair, I did some looking around on the internet to see if in fact the information that I heard on the radio could be confirmed. Back in January on the 35th Anniversary of Roe V. Wade, Senator Obama said this .He also mentioned the same thing on July 17th, 2007 while addressing the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.
I am a realist. Though my personal belief is that abortion should be done away with in 99.8% of circumstances, I feel that it never will. It is not my place to judge those folks that make the choice to terminate their pregnancies. That is between them and their Creator. What is my place though is to take a stand against wrong. The FOCA at it’s core will do away with the Partial Birth Abortion Ban passed by the U.S. Supreme Court. For a look at how this procedure is done, (WARNING DRAWING IS GRAPHIC)click here.
Senator Obama stated that Passing the FOCA would be “first thing he would do” if he is indeed voted in as President. With all of the issues this Great Nation has; economy, health care, terrorisim/ National security, repairing our relationships with the other Nations of the world etc. I must firmly say his priorities are WRONG. Be sure to check what all of the canidates are saying and think about what is best for our Country.

Been a while since I did an update on Dad. He is doing better each day. He continues to thank everyone for their prayers and also asks that each one continue. The swelling of his brain is going down and he is slowly being taken off the steroids. In a couple of days, LeAnn and I will be off to Ohio to see them. My middle nephew Zack is graduating High School and so my brother Mark drove down to SC to pick them up and bring them to Ohio. All the family is descending on the homestead for the weekend because not only is it graduation weekend, it is my Parents 50th wedding Anniversary on Sunday!!!!! How awesome is that????

This past weekend, the iFit group from Cornerstone went camping at Cunningham Falls. We headed out on Friday afternoon and made it to the camp around 6:30 PM. We got our tent set up and then went over to the community site for dinner and hanging out. After we chowed down on the normal camping fare of hotdogs and chips etc, we spent the evening sitting around the fire and chilled out. Sometime during the evening, i broke out the guitar and we sang some cool worship songs. Mainly ones I remember ( mostly Charlie Hall and 3rd Day) since the bugs were out and we didn’t want to have the lantern on so I could look at cheater charts. On Saturday, a gigantic thunder storm rolled through and drenched us good. 5 of us headed out on a field trip to Gettysburgh PA for lunch and then we went to the new Visitor’s center. If you have never been there, it is amazing. They got rid of the Electric map from the original welcome center but they replaced it with some pretty cool videos. We really had a great time. On the way back to camp, we stopped at the outlets and Alistair picked up some new clothes to take back to England next month. We also picked up some fudge to share with our friends back at camp. We ended up heading home about noon on Sunday. Overall it was a pretty cool weekend and I got to actually relax a bit. Check out the pictures over at the iFit site~
